Parent Advisory Council (PAC) Nomination form

A formality needed within every PAC is to form an “executive”.  The executives roll is to act as the voice of the parents and assist in making decisions through a voting process at monthly meetings – we would like to stress that although these roles must be filled, the equally important piece is that this group has voices behind them – receiving feedback and contributing energy and ideas.  The following is a brief description of the executive rolls – we invite you to nominate yourself – or someone else!

Chair:                           liaison between parents, teachers and community, chairs the monthly meetings, oversees and helps with events organized by the PAC

Vice – Chair:                 to assist the Chair at any event, creating and organizing fundraising events.

Secretary:                    take notes at monthly meeting and distribute the minutes available to everyone at the school.

Treasurer:                    handling the financial matters, presenting financial reports at the monthly meeting.

Members at large:         general assistance, ability to vote at PAC meetings on “motions” when quorum can’t be met.

DPAC:                           (District Parent Advisory Council) to attend the monthly District PAC meeting and inform the group at the next meeting.

SPC:                             (School Planning Committee)  attending monthly School Planning Council meetings, to learn about and being involved in school plans and achievements.

What is a Parent Advisory Council (PAC) ?

In every school at any level, a Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is formed and every parent or guardian registered at that school is automatically a member of PAC.

The purpose and goal of the council in short:
communication for parents to the school,
organize fundraising events to support the school and its needs,
involvement and knowledge of yearly school goals and achievements.
( the long version is our constitution, which is available for you to read at the school library.)

     PAC Meetings

At Bowser elementary school, PAC meetings are held on every
3rd Tuesday of the month, in the school library at 6.30pm.
These meetings typically last 1 1/2-2 hours.
The PAC Chair will host the meeting and prepares the agenda.
Our Principal, Mrs. Spendlove will attend these meetings and gives us a monthly update of what is going on in the school.
Guest speakers are also invited to inform us of events in the
community in relation ship to our school community.

Did you know that it is proven that children do better when their parents are actively involved in school ??

FREE Childcare is available while you attend the meeting!

...besides learning about our school, the meeting is a nice way to meet other parents and make new friends!!!
